Breathing

The most important indicator of a healthy Yoga practice is deep, calm breathing. All Bhava teachers have training in breathing practices and extensive experience in observing students' breath throughout the practice.

However, it is important that all students observe their practice and breathing, and treat themselves, accordingly, with tenderness and respect (for example, by resting in a restorative pose when appropriate).

Bhava Yoga Brattleboro offers several interconnected types of instruction:

The first three are simply different permutations of Bhava Vinyasa Yoga and are complementary forms of practice while meditation instruction is offered as a beautiful and integral part of the Yoga practice.

Classes often include a brief meditation and and some final chants.

Other types of classes offered at Bhava include: Restorative and Gentle/Prenatal.

Please speak to your teacher if you have any special needs or concerns or if you are uncomfortable being touched during the traditional posture assists we offer. All Bhava Vinyasa practice can be modified—by the use of props, modification of pace or posture, or alternative postures—to suit any individual student.

Private Instruction

Private instruction serves to provide personalized focus on an individual student's needs for her practice. Here are some examples of how a private class can be tailored:

  • We may work together on a variety of asana including practicing with a special condition (e.g, pregnancy or high blood pressure) or injury (e.g., back or wrist problems).
  • We can focus on your challenges and fears in your practice.
  • We can concentrate on a specific asana (pose) or type of asana (i.e., backbendings, inversions, restoratives) or on other aspects of yoga practice such as breathing, philosophy, diet, etc.

Our training and experience have given us a broad base from which to address a wide range of specific issues, as well as more general aspects of Yoga practice.

Privates may be arranged on a one-time basis, or on a regular schedule, according to your needs. The cost is $50/hour in the studio or $60 in your home.
